4 Shelter Cats at Humane PA Who Deserve a Forever Kingdom
Last Updated: June 23rd, 2025
Written by: 2 Goofy Hoomans (Ashley & Alex) and 4 Rescue Cat Reporters (Callie, Mama, Yebba, & Seymour)
Hi there, hooman.
It’s your favorite sass squad — Callie (queen of opinions), Seymour (lover of treats), Yebba (chaotic cuddle monster), and Mama (resident wise woman). Together we are the voices behind STRAYZ Cat Collective, and today, we’re telling you about something very important.
Some of our feline cousins at Humane PA have been waiting a long time for love. We call them the Local Legends — the cats who’ve lived through seasons, crate moves, awkward adoption events, and still keep purring.
Their stories deserve to be told.
Their paws deserve soft beds.
Their forever hoomans? Might just be you.
🐱 What Makes a “Local Legend”?
In shelter-speak, they’re known as long-stay cats — ones who’ve been waiting weeks, months, even years for adoption. And it’s not because they aren’t loving, adoptable, or fabulous.
It’s because:
They’re a little shy at first 🫣
They may prefer quiet homes 🧘
Or they live with something like FIV (more on that in a sec)
But trust us — legends don’t ask for attention.
They earn it with loyalty, heart, and slow-blink magic. ✨
Skeeter: The Sweetheart Who Just Needs Time
Age: 8 years
Vibe: Soft soul, snack connoisseur, brushing fan
Backstory: Surrendered due to owner’s health challenges
“Skeeter is the kind of cat who will quietly follow you from room to room just to be near your energy.” – Mama
Skeeter’s story breaks our hearts and rebuilds it all at once. This shy boy didn’t end up at the shelter because of anything he did wrong — his owner fell ill and couldn’t care for him anymore. So now Skeeter waits.
Not in a loud way.
Not in a "notice me" way.
But in the gentle, patient way only an old soul can.
He’ll need time to warm up. But when he does? You’ll get slow blinks, gentle nudges, and the kind of trust that’s earned — not expected.
He likes:
Soft brushes on his cheeks
Quiet corners
Sweet whispers
Treats (the crunchy kind)
Skeeter needs a calm home with hoomans who see past the nerves and into the heart. He’s not flashy — he’s forever.
Jenny: The One-Cat Show Who Runs on Love
Age: 5 years
Vibe: Confident, queenly, low-drama
Needs: A pet-free kingdom to call her own
“Jenny doesn’t compete for attention. She commands it.” – Callie
Jenny had a home once. But allergies forced her family to let go, and she ended up at the shelter wondering what happened. Now she’s waiting, quietly but firmly, for a hooman who gets her.
She’s not mean. She’s not aloof.
She just doesn’t want to share her space with dogs, cats, lizards, or anything else with a tail.
And we respect that.
Jenny the cat is:
Low-maintenance
Big on personal space
Majestic in the window sun
Soft-hearted if you give her a little time
She’s the kind of cat who chooses her people — and once she does, she gives everything. Jenny isn’t asking for much. Just you. All to herself.
Prince: The FIV+ Cat You’ve Been Dreaming Of
Age: 6
Status: FIV+ (and fabulous)
Vibe: Warm, chill, melts when held
Special Skills: Royal head tilts and purring on command
“I would share my sun spot for this cat. That’s how legendary he is.” – Seymour
Prince was found as a stray, but everything about him says “house cat royalty.” He’s kind. Cuddly. Regal. And he’s been overlooked time and time again just because he has FIV.
Let us break it down for you:
FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus.
It’s not contagious through casual contact (no, he’s not a sneeze risk).
Cats with FIV live long, normal, loving lives.
Prince can live with other cats if everyone’s friendly and neutered (he is!).
Prince is:
A lap magnet
Obsessed with food (relatable)
A true emotional support animal wrapped in orange floof
He’d thrive in a home with cozy beds, a few windows, and a human who knows being “different” is what makes you beautiful.
Grey: The Gentle Observer Who Just Wants a Home
Age: 5
Vibe: Thoughtful, calm, cuddly when ready
Background: Surrendered due to owner hardship
Hobbies: Napping near books, watching birds from the window, people-watching without judgment
“Grey watches the world like he’s already written poetry about it.” – Yebba
Grey the cat didn’t ask to end up here. His previous hooman just couldn’t care for him anymore. But Grey’s taken it in stride — quietly adjusting, curling up in corners, waiting for someone to notice him.
He’s not going to meow for attention.
He won’t jump on your keyboard.
He’ll just be there — when you need calm, when you need comfort, when you need quiet connection.
Grey is perfect for:
First-time cat parents
Gentle homes
Introverts who want quiet love
Anyone who wants a forever shadow
He deserves soft things. Warm hands. A hooman who whispers his name just to watch his ears flick.

🐾 Final Meow: What It Means to Be Seen
If you’ve ever felt invisible, unloved, or forgotten — these cats know that feeling.
But here’s the truth: they never stopped believing in you.
And we hope you won’t stop believing in them.
Because legends?
They don’t need rescuing.
They just need recognizing.
Adopt a Local Legend.
Write the next chapter of their story.
With all our whiskers and hearts,
Callie, Seymour, Yebba & Mama
