SHILLINGTON, PA — The latest destination in the Stray Cat News “Cats Gotta Eat” series brought our hooman correspondents to Deluxe Diner, a local mainstay on Lancaster Pike known for its hearty comfort food and welcoming atmosphere.
🐾 Location Spotlight: Deluxe Diner
Located at 2295 Lancaster Pike, Deluxe Diner sits quietly in the heart of Shillington, offering an extensive menu of diner classics seven days a week. It’s a place where locals greet each other by name, coffee cups never go empty, and nostalgia lingers in every booth.
As our reporter Callie put it, “There’s something grounding about a place that still serves pancakes at 7 PM without judgment.”
🍽️ The STRAYZ Order
To give a well-rounded (and well-fed) review, our hoomans Ashley and Alex sampled a hearty mix of comfort food classics and sweet indulgences from the Deluxe Diner menu:
Chicken Tenders & Fries — golden, crispy, and served with both BBQ sauce and honey mustard, because why choose when you can dip like royalty? The tenders were juicy, the fries were hot, and the sauces were respectfully devoured.
Oreo Cake — rich, layered, and unapologetically over the top. A light chocolate cake hugged by cookies-and-cream frosting that had a perfectly placed Oreo Cookie on top.
Red Velvet Cake — moist, sweet, and finished with a perfectly whipped cream cheese frosting.
Fresh-Brewed Coffee — strong, smooth, and endlessly refilled.
Why Shillington’s Deluxe Diner Matters
Deluxe Diner isn’t just a breakfast spot. It’s a community anchor — a place where families gather after soccer games, retirees catch up over decaf, and solo diners eat their ooey gooey blueberry pancakes in peace.
As part of the Cats Gotta Eat initiative, Stray Cat News aims to spotlight places across Pennsylvania that embody more than just good food. We seek out environments that are warm, welcoming, and resonate with the same comfort and care found in a rescue animal’s second chance.

Mama (Editor-in-Chief, est. age 14):
